Pre Chelsea build up on OWS

Pre Chelsea build up on OWS

Postby redrobo » Thu Jan 09, 2025 12:34 pm

Forgive me if I've missed something but there is little if any pre Chelsea match build up on the OWS to date... :?:

I would have expected at least a wee bit of info from DA about how he goes about his and the players build up and maybe an interview or two with the manager and some of the players who may have played at a higher level against opposition such as Chelsea.

ie Williams, Edwards, Hope, Hendrie, Taylor.....

Maybe in the days to come there will be some build up....although Radio Lancashire did to their credit do a full interview with a certain fan who supports both Chelsea and Morecambe last night on their 6pm Sports Show. He certainly came across well but he is after all well versed in hosting pod casts etc etc...

I think Derek will just treat this as a normal game and not let anyone get carried away or distracted! But I must say the quality of media output is so poor these days by the club!

Many years ago, I was at Chelsea College (now part of Kings College) qualifying as a pharmacist and I well remember Chelsea coming home with the FA Cup after beating Leeds in a replay of the final.
So sad to think that this year they will probably be knocked out in the 3rd round.

:lol

A liitle naughty there Neil. :)

As you know, the media day is always on a Thursday so it doesnt interfere with anything else and I think the Media team did a cracking job yesterday. Not sure what you were expecting, and i know it is exciting for us fans, but if we were playing Blackpool it would be just another match, and I think that is how Derek is approaching it.

As for the wider 'media coverage' being "poor these days", I just cant agree on that. I am a little biased as I see the guys on a matchday and how hard they work, but I think if you compare to other L2 clubs then we more than hold our own.

The question I always ask when fans say this to me, is what would you want to see that is not happening? Usually I dont get a definitive answer.

What I would say is that Matt Smith and his 'team' (team being one other person), work incredibly hard and put quality stuff together as much as they can with the time they have over the 1st team, Academy, Womens' team and the Community programme.

What I do know is that Matt is one of the nicest guys and would happily take on board any constructive thoughts and will listen to anyone who has any ideas. Easy to criticise, but I would suggest encouragement and the sharing of ideas.

It wasnt long ago the 'Media Department' was me, Freez and my camcorder! We have come a long way since then!
