Boy do we make hard work of it. 2 great chances missed that would have killed the game off for us.
Hard to watch.

We needed that! Tough game at Salford and a big six pointer against Tranmere on New Years Day! Looked a lot better today.

17 years in the football league...

Have we had many bigger wins than today

Swindon drawing and Harrogate losing certainly helps

We need to start winning or at least picking up something at home

Could have lost it in the first half. Several decent crosses but no one in the right position, all clustered by the near post. Second half was better and Edwards was there in the right position. I'm sure we could score more goals if someone stayed towards the far post waiting for the ball to come through.

Can't believe some of the comments on here. Thought we played well and fully deserved the win. Carlisle were shockingly bad. Didn't think I would see a team so much worse than us!

My first away game for 4 years but went with my son inlaw who wanted to go.

Have tobe honest I thought we deserved the win and played well considering the importance of a positive result. DA got his tactics and selection spot on as Radio Cumbria acknowledged on their sports show post match.

So to all those who only commented on the tv game.. wind ya necks in and give the lads credit we're due.

Be thankful we arenot like the 8500 Carlisle fans baying for their managers head for all most all of the game

Credit to our travelling band You were amazing.

With us the only team to win we are hanging on to the coat tails of 4 teams above us, get 3-6 (preferably beating Tranmere and Newport, reeling them in) and we have given our selves a footing for a good second half to the season.

Merry Christmas today.

Bizarre and somewhat over-dramatic thread to read back over.

Carlisle started quickly out the blocks but once we rode that wave of pressure, we very much grew into the game and ended the first half the stronger side. They caused us a bit of trouble down our right with Mellish etc but we made good use of the space it left going the other way, with Tollitt having a fair bit of joy.

Second half we kept kicking on and were well worthy of our lead in the end. Great bit of play from Dackers to skin Lavelle (mental that people booed him, utterly bizarre) and a little touch of class from Edwards (he's been missed!) to get control of the ball and tuck it away.

Thought Carlisle had a bit of a reaction to the red and we seemed to start panicking and losing a grip, but after about 10 mins took back control. Four Carlisle shots in that second half, with zero on target. In fact, they only had one shot on target all game (good save from Burgoyne). After that sitter in the first few minutes, Carlisle created very little while we looked a threat and had a number of decent chances.

Some interesting little bits from the first half of our season. In the five games we've played against other bottom six sides, we've managed 10 points! That's a great record. On the flip side though - the highest placed team we've beaten is Barrow (17th), and we've only managed two points against teams in the top half. Hopefully a bit of extra quality in January will allow us to compete better with those top half sides and have us sneak a few more points against them. Our record against the bottom third is good, even performance wise as well - only time we've really been second best against such sides was our massive off-day against Accrington.

Another away win at a fixture I nearly went to. Haha

I think if we can get a win from either of the next two fixtures, it will put us in a competitive position for the second half of the season

The work rate put in by every player deserves a mention. They really played for the badge yesterday and as fans, that is what we love to see. It might not look pretty on the BBC updates but every one of the 600+ there yesterday could see the effort being put in.

The travelling fans outsung 9000 booing Dumbrians yesterday, once again doing the town proud!
