Our Derek.

Our Derek.

Derek being honest in his interview and I think we have to appreciate that. I think we as fans can see that this squad work hard and we should also appreciate that as well. We are however after 20 games not in a good position, we cannot say no more we have not had the rub of the green. It is as Derek says lake of quality and if Derek can no longer get out of these players what it will take to stay in this league he is right we have to move players on and we have to recruit.

Now back before the season started Derek had a gigantic task to try and put some sort of squad together that was good enough to stay in this league and if every one plays well all the time we maybe we could have done better, but nobody does and the application that is needed has somewhat receded of late.

Take Nov, if we could have produce those displays on a consistent basis we could be in a better position.

We are not! and I know it and you know it and Derek now has spoken and hopefully it’s to get a reaction before he brings in new players in January as the next few game are very important to the rest of the season.

I think he was saying you need to prove you are good enough to stay and hopefully it works.

Won't be an easy task convincing anyone to join arguably the worst team in the football league, equally who can we shift our deadwood to?

Not sure it is that simple. If you are a twenty-year old at a Premier League side, who needs game time and experience, do you join a side that's doing well, where you will start the second half of the season on the bench, fighting your way into contention, or, do you go somewhere that you will be starting games from day one? And, Derek has a track record of improving young players, so that factors in too.

Players moving on? Well, that remains to be seen.

So how did that work out then?

Aside from a couple of fixtures - Grimsby recently as an example - we've been in games until late in the piece and probably should've accrued more points than we have done to date. We are competitive, but do lack in quality and a goalscorer.... You can't really single anybody out for a lack of effort IMO.

I do think with a couple of additions we have the basis of a solid team, but at some point you can't keep hoping things will turn, and you need to take action. We are quickly approaching that stage, fingers crossed for a fruitful transfer window.

We do have some key matches coming up before then that could determine our future. Make no bones about it, survival is imperative; I dread to think how far the club would fall should it be relegated out of the EFL.... but I suppose all of that is secondary to the ownership situation. With Mr Whittingham at the helm we could very well survive, but it is merely a stay of execution if the club continues under his ruinous stewardship.

Has Derek pulled off a master stroke by playing a lot of our first 11 against Carlisle the other day? We will see on Saturday a very important game for us if we want to hang onto Bromely’s tale we have to gat something out of the game. Of course reeling them in by us getting the 3 points is the better option. Derek Might have tried a something a bit different but of course Carlisle youngsters are not going to be on Notts Forest level and we did well against them in the second half. Just a moral booster or getting something more out of our players before Saturday.
I would say playing a mid week match is better than being on the training pitch every day at this time of year, might be just that?
