League 2 next season

League 2 next season

Postby Redalert1970 » Sun Mar 20, 2022 11:33 am

Could be lots of local matches for us in League 2 next season

Barrow
Carlisle
Harrogate
Bradford
Tranmere
Rochdale
Stockport
Oldham
Salford
Crewe
Hartlepool

Quite a few of these would fill the away end so crowds would still be decent especially if we did season tickets for £150 quid again

Another dismal post where a fan has already thrown the towel in....

3 home wins would be enough to get us out of the poo.....assuming that those others involved in the relegation battle don't manage the same.

It's times like this when every fan should be the 12th man. Get behind the team FFS......

Anything is possible even at this late stage.

Have I missed something? When did we get relegated? After supporting us for however many years, you should know better.

Can we get this taken down or disabled? I mean it's kind of irrelevant isn't it?

I agree Neil ..anything is possible

But we have won 2 in the last 20 so it's asking a hell of a lot to get out of that slump especially when we are shipping so many goals

And all I was saying was we could have loads of local matches if we did get relegated

Would you prefer to be in:

A: League 1 but be in a relegation scrap all season

B: League 2 but be challenging for top 3 all season

Which scenario would have the bigger home attendence over a season?

We have had good crowds this season ... But if we were top 3 or 4 in League below crowds would be pretty good too

Difficult one too answer

This is a very valid question to ask and one which a friend (who supports Brentford) and I have been asking ourselves. Whilst it looks as if Brentford will stay up it is likely they will struggle to stay up each year. I'm sure some will disagree but I would rather we went down and were winning games than stay up and end up struggling again next year and the following year until we finally went down.

The problem is can we be sure that we would be winning games and challenging for promotion out of Div 2? ;)

Yep, I look at League 2 and do wonder how many of those teams/Clubs we would over run, even with our current L1 team.
We've played many teams in L2 who got promoted and are now in National League or lower, thinking that they are bigger and better and L2 will be a doddle

Exeter who were promoted to L2 after us im sure went up to L1 then back down to L2 again, and then back down to non league and then back up to L2 again where they now sit now as to Tranmere, as Morecambe sat in L2 boasting about our 10yr stay.

league 1, challenging for top three in league 2 all season ?,So what happens if we are one win away from doing up do we throw the game because we will scrap to stay up in league 1,This is a daft argument.

I'd prefer a League One relegation scrap every time! I still struggle to believe that we've been playing Sunderland, Sheffield Wednesday & Ipswich as peers. Stay up, and play Derby next season???

As for which scenario would have bigger home attendances, League One, simply because it would be higher from match one, whereas, in League Two we'd lose some home fans, who would then begin to come back as the season went on and we were winning games. I hope the club VERY QUICKLY offer an excellent season ticket package for next season so we keep as many as possible from this season. As I said elsewhere, I'd like to the club to recognise the financial challenges that many people are facing (or will be soon) and offer something that makes it easier for people to renew. For example 3x£60 in June, July & August would be an increase in season ticket price, but easier for many people to pay.

Morecambe v Sunderland in the final league game of the season. When we played them almost exactly ten years earlier, in the League Cup, I wonder if anyone watching us against Premier League opposition, would have believed we'd be in the same league now?

First post be gentle.
IMHO - In Mr Adams you have exactly the Manager you would want to be leading your team from the position that you are in. Alas, these are not wholly the players he would like to be in this position with.
I believe from the 7 games you need a minimum of two wins and perhaps 2 -3 draws. Will be tense end of the season.

You have to have faith Derek can get a tune out of them, the lad who dumped you in this and then jumped ship had a vision to play a different style, maybe he got twitchy that it was not working and a few quid more to move on, absolutely no chance or point to change again.

So now for the pelters, I have followed BWFC since 3rd Division days in the 70's, I have a soft spot for Morecambe as a kid spent holidays and weekends in the area and a trip to the town was always a treat, big fan of McPint at the TT and still when I am in the area cannot stay away. I have been a visitor on this site for a couple of years and well aware not a lot of love lost in the direction of Bolton and I get it. we have more than our chare of numpties and in the most the non numpties try and keep them in check, not much we can do about the lad Managing us and it is often I am not in tune with his position and vocalise this on other forums. Again just my opinion he will be a top Manager probably not with us, but he has a long way to go before he will be palatable to bigger clubs.
Good luck for the rest of the season will continue to follow probably quietly on this site, just wanted to say that you need to have the faith and be (hate the word) united till the end of the season to stay up.

Marky, I understand your statement 'current L1 team'. But let's not forget, this isn't D.A.s team and at least half would probably leave or be released for D.A. to bring his own choice in. That's if he stays of course !

A lot of Robbos players were given 2 year contracts so dont expect too many departures.
