O/T Bury FC

Good news for all Bury fans that the Government has given them a loan ( :?: ) of £1million to start as a community based club.

However must be some concerns going forward that if other clubs suffer similar problems as Bury that they will expect the Government of the day to help out financially... :?: :?: :?:

Delighted for Bury....but what if other clubs go to the wall... :?: :?: :?:

Good point.

At the last election Bury voted for two Tory MPs. Suddenly, money is available on a completely arbitrary basis under the guise of “levelling up”. The reality is that it’s simple bribery and reflects the Towns Fund, where over £150m has gone into Tory marginals and seats in 83 of 85 cases.

Pleased Bury can get back to Gigg Lane but this is just more corrupt behaviour by a government that works on corruption to buy votes.

It still upsets me a little bit that there is all this sympathy, yet Bury bought promotion the season before they went bust, paying 7k a week to some players to get out of the division, then pleaded poverty the season after in League 1 after bad housekeeping!!

Does Morecambe count as 'marginal' enough to warrant a 'bribe' or 'safe enough' to be ignored? After his amazing job, single-handedly building the bypass, I'm looking forward to seeing him get his spade out again to build Eden Project.

David Cameron. May 4th 2015.
So how did that work out then?

If, and a big if, Eden goes ahead expect an announcement about six months before an election gets called. The UK Shared Prosperity Fund, the replacement for the European Regional Development Fund goes live in April 2022. All the signs are that the amount of funding will be lower and delivered in pots in 2023 just before an election.
