John Mc leaves club

Sorry to read that JMc has decided that the time is right to leave the club for a new challenge.

John played for the club many seasons ago and I still possess the photo of myself and him as club captain when I sponsored a winter's game at the old -place.

Will no doubt be missed but we move on and await news of a possible replacement....maybe from in house :?: :?: :?:

I'm sure we wish John all the best and will never forget the role he played in our promotion to League 1.

Thanks John.... :) :) :)

Yes and I wonder if this frees up a wage to be used on a player.

I wonder if the head of recruitment will be doing more coaching and Ocarroll becomes assistant.

I always did wonder what the difference was between head coach and assistant manager and why we had both, then along comes a head of recruitment with coaching responsibilities ?

If we do bring in another coach I would like it to be a more defensive minded coach.

Maybe we need to be like the NFL and have an offensive and defensive coordinators.

It is possible he's left to take full command at the next club. Best wishes for the future John McM.

Reading between the lines I don’t think it was John McMahon’s decision to leave. While it appears mutual it was clear he was no longer required.

Stephen Robinson, “He’s been a very good support to me, especially in the early stages, to myself and Diarmuid [O’Carroll].

“John and I spoke, we felt it was best for everybody that John moved on, he had a contract until the end of the season, but we felt it was in everybody’s best interests that we sorted something out now.

Sounds like a negotiated exit to me.

His departure COULD free up more money to pay for an experienced central defender or midfield enforcer preferably with experience of EFL football..... :?: :?: :?:

Would be concerned if we signed players North of the Border at this crucial time for our club.....but that's just my opinion...others will disagree...

Hi under the EFL financial fair play protocols, management and playing are totally separate budgets, so whilst for the “in house” cost controls it may have an impact but from an EFL perspective it doesn’t make any difference.

As to signing players from north of the border, as long as they are of the required quality and standard, surely it’s not an issue. I wouldn’t think anyone would think that signing Ryan Edwards was not a positive, although it’s unlikely he would come as he seems quite happy at Dundee United

Depends how his contract was paid up? If he had the rest of his contract paid-up, then there's zero additional salary. If it was [say] three months, then there will be some, but not much. If he has a job to go to that's not yet been announced, then perhaps.

Hmm, this is the second thread you mentioned this in. It is almost like you are setting up to object when we do just that?

So how did that work out then?
