CMG on BBC Football Focus on Saturday

Postby Gone_Shrimping » Fri Mar 26, 2021 9:50 am

Clem from BBC was interviewing Carlos Mendes Gomes on Morecambe Beach yesterday.

It is to be shown this Saturday on Football Focus at Mid-day and Dan Walker recommends it on Twitter.

Quite a bit on Twitter if any anoraks (MarkyNo1 ?) can link them.

Where are we regarding contracts with Carlos ? , this lad is really putting himself in the shop window. There is no doubt he is hot property at the moment !

What a story he has, I'm sure we'll all be keeping a close eye on his career.

Could move to a higher level "for a large fee" well said Derek.

Was that all.....something is better than nothing but could have been a wee bit longer.

Good to hear that Carlos is appreciative that all DA has done and is still doing for his future BUT the BoD have to stand firm when it comes to a fee for him. no selling us short and anything less that £750K would be an insult when you look at some of the fees going for players at our level.

More likely a cool £1million would be my wish..... :)

I felt that in the past we seemed to grab the first offer on the table and not getting true worth for a player.

I think any sell on clause we manage to get will prove more lucrative than the initial fee.

Carlos really is on the way up and he came across very well, as he does in all his interviews. It's good to see the club and the players getting some good press.

I think he was already there. Only a matter of time really. I wonder where he would've been playing now had DA not arrived?

With regards any potential sale of Carlos, would you accept:-

A-£250,000 upfront and a 40% sell on clause

Or

B-£750,000 upfront and a 10% sell on clause

I think we were desperate for the money in the past.

Good question. I suppose it depends which club were buying. If, say, Leeds, I'd go for 'B' as he'd probably have found a level that means he wouldn't necessarily move on again. But if it was, say, Blackpool, I'd go for 'A' as he'd probably move again to a bigger club.

So how did that work out then?

Nothing is guaranteed in football, so for me it's take the £750K with 10% sell on but a difficult one whichever one goes for.

IF and WHEN it happens the BoD will have to take the advice of DA in my opinion as well as others in the game.
