He's tweeted he wasn't aiming anything at us fans, just the manager, obviously a sore point

Kev is a legend at Morecambe and always will be. Nothing can take away from him his record - only player to score 10 or more goals in a Football League season four times and those goals against Rochdale, Yeovil, Wycombe etc. Over 9 seasons he also wound up so many players and teams in a way that put a bit of fear into the opposition - definitely not ‘little old Morecambe’.

In his last couple of seasons he didn’t have the influence and energy he had and it was time to go. In my view he should have been allowed to leave gracefully (Jim should really have done it). Told he was longer going to play and given the option to take a loan or mutually scrap his contract. Maybe we couldn’t afford to pay up to scrap his contract so we went down another route, hence the PFA getting involved.

The idea that yesterday was premeditated is a bit ridiculous. He was on the bench for starters and then he had to score. However, I can’t be surprise or blame him for what he did. He’s Kev.

The reality is that whatever happened between him and Derek it’s over. However Derek went about it, it was the right decision. We’re now a better team for it and for having Derek as Manager. The incident will be tomorrow’s chip paper and all that matters now is the battle for promotion. There’s no sentiment in football. Kev’s a Morecambe legend. He’s also an ex-player. He’s moved on and so should we.

I have no problems with Kev's celebration. We all know he was sore about how things ended. He thinks it was personal but actually it really wasn't. He lost his place in the squad, reacted badly by posting about it on social media, was probably also quite vocal about it during training and around the dressing room. So Derek made the decision to separate him from the main squad. Harsh maybe but perhaps Bentley let him get away with things a more professional manager wouldn't.

It's a shame how it all ended for Kev but we as a club move on. Having a bit of needle though with an ex player though adds to the fun of matchdays. It will be interesting if we get them again in the playoffs and fans are allowed back. I personally would applaud him whilst he warms up but if he made it on the pitch give him hell  Kev would expect nothing less :D

Think you've summed up the situation quite well there WB. We used to love him winding up the opposition, the one time I remember him screaming at a manager was at Dave Artell I think - which I remember not feeling too happy about because nobody disrespects the Moose. Although after his reaction to the Phillips red card, I didn't actually feel quite the same. But...after how things ended with Phillips, Artell can scream at him all he likes

What irritates me more is the narrative that him and others have been portraying on social media, which is that Adams walked in, took one look at Ellison and sacked him off immediately. It's completely untrue - he was dropped due to there being better players, and still made appearances of the bench before his daft social media posts (and very possibly disruption in the squad) ended up with the bomb squad treatment.

Yes, I agree Little Shrimp. We can only really speculate, however I'd imagine under Jim if Kev was ever dropped there would be grumblings and probably a man-to-man discussion arranged. Adams probably does things entirely different. Those that make the squad are down on merit and if you get left out, the only thing to do is to keep your head down train a bit harder. Adams has done this with other inherited players and some have actually come back better and got back in the squad.
