Summer transfers/signings

Has anybody heard any rumours about our transfer news or seen any good buyable players. Haven't seen anyone myself apart from Howe but is he buyable :?: :? .

there's certainly gonna be some changes, need a good clear out. and with the current economic climate, there should be some bargains out there

I saw Michael Owen with a big mac the other day, does that suggest he's been to McDonalds? If he has, we should seriously look into purchasing him.

Omar Daley from Bratford?

Wouldn't be suprised if he's released at the end of this season as he appears to be the scapegoat according to their fans if they play badly.

His game is all about speed. Similar to Thommo in many respects.

Ian Craney would be a good signing.

Asked Huddersfield for a transfer so rumour has it.

Good call, he would be an excellent signing for you. Thing is, hes got another two years on his contract at CIty, and is out with ligament damage till Xmas!

Plus hes our best player by a country mile, so hands off!

We should try and secure some players on loan imo.

Would doubt that there will be a major clear out when you consider that Sammy has just signed Fraser and Arts up for another season.

My concern is that with our 'old guard' of Iron Man Adams, Drummy and Jimbo all passed 30 that we will be even more suspect to the quicker opposition. As for who to release, then Davies, Wayno, Hunter, unfortunately O'Carroll and Howe to return to 'boro would seem to be the ones under most threat. Maybe Adams and Mr T could be made available for transfer but other than that i can't see anybody else.

I think the big question is can we find, or more to the point attract better players than we have at the moment. We have seen in previous years how difficult it is to get our first or even second choice targets for a certain position. Then we end up bringing in players who are not any better or even not as good as the players who have been released.

In an ideal world Sammy would be able to secure the services of a new player before releasing any, unfortunately it doesn't seem to work that way.

This is because the names of available players are banded around here and poached by the spys and agents who troll the messageboards - saves them a lot of time ya know ;)

Maybe this close season will be unlike any other, with so many clubs cutting back, there should be a wealth of players who will have to take a wages cut if they wish to stay in the game. Having been through 1 embargo, I doubt that the Board will want to repeat the exercise. I also suspect that our situation was aggrivated by it becoming public knowledge. There have been others, I'm sure of that.

i think we only need 2/3 anyway

id like Ian Harte, who can naturally play anywhere on the left side, with a wealth of experience

then R Howe, and maybe a central midfielder

A couple more possible signings:-

Ryan Lowe scoring a few at Chester

Andy Manghan , a scouser scoring goals for fun at Forest Green.

If he's not good enough for Accrington then he's not good enough for us. We had him on trial in pre season as well and Sammy didn't see anything in him so I don't see that one as a goer.

Maybe a couple of northern Ireland U21 that are still playing in Irish league worth looking at in the summer.

This is true, but it's also true for every other club in the division. I think everyone will be able to improve their playing squad so we'll have to be in there fairly sharpish.

Jimmy Ryan is the only one I'd look at. Potential to go far. Only 21 and hasn't signed a new deal with Accy yet.

Fans may recall that he's the one who was constantly taking pot shots at our away game and scored their screamer. Former 'pool trainee I understand. I think has been offered a contract but is still to sign. Coley rates him highly.
