Aesop's Fables - The Horse and the Donkey
A horse, who was very proud of his new stable and beautiful harness, met a little donkey on the road. The little donkey was carrying an enormous load and moved very slowly. This annoyed the horse, as the donkey was in his way.
The horse said, "I'm in a hurry, on important business and you move so slowly, I feel like kicking you to get out of my way." The donkey said nothing but was very sad at being spoken to in such a harsh and discourteous manner.
Later that week, the horse became 'broken-winded' and was sent away to a farm by his owner. The donkey, seeing the horse pulling an old cart full of cow manure cried out "Oh, what happened to you? Where is your posh stable and harness now? You mocked me and now we are both equal."
The moral of the story being:
Pride comes before a fall.
How the mighty do fall.
