Driving Morecambe to Chesterfield

Postby Gnasher » Fri Jan 23, 2009 12:56 pm

I was going to drive the scenic route partly over Snake cutting out about 30 miles. However, talking to a colleague this morning who was driving over Snake, the road hadn't been gritted and there was sheet ice, cars sliding all over the place. He turned round and went home rather than carry on. Check the forecast and the traffic sites before you set off if you're thinking of that route.

Travelled over the Snake on Wednesday and was a bit tricky in parts. After the overnight snow on the surrounding fells in the South Lakes, I can imagine that the Snake is as Brian has posted.

Photographers paradice though!

Parts of the snake pass were closed off in both lanes today due to snow, so if you're planning on travelling that way for the game I'd check travel updates for the area before you leave
