Northwich at home in the FA cup a few seasons ago sticks in the mind. They hammered us that day with Paul Brayson and Carlos Roca ripping us apart, i was even applauding them!

Probably best one was Dagenham in the league before we got them in the playoffs, (can't remember if it was the same season). Chris Lane scored a volley in the last minute to give us a 3-2 win.

I remember that Northwich game , well only the first half cos it was so embarrasing we stayed in JB´s for the rest of the day.

I think the best football we played was i think against Altrincham in Conferance when we won 7-0 at C.P. But those 2 goals from Mr T at Cambridge will take some beating.

One of the worst games that I remember that I don't think has been mentioned so far is when we lost 5-0 to Yeovil the year they won the conference. A combination of them on top form, us playing completely rubbish and very poor weather conditions which we could not get to grips with lead to a horrid game to watch.

The 2-1 Cambridge win in the FA cup has to be up there with one of the best, the win over Peterborough and bradford last season were great games, along with a 5-0 win over Burton Albion about 4 or 5 seasons ago, it was the last game of the season if I remember rightly.

yes our groundsmen were promised large whiskeys all round by an ex director for getting the game on and then never bought them th epitch was in a dreadful state

Anyone remember the Dagenham 1-1 draw at home, Chris Thompson was it? Scored a 94th minute bicycle kick Crazy times. Think he later went on to Lancaster city . .

The FA Trophy has a lot to answer for, for worst matches.

Away at Slough (More years ago than I care to remember). A long way to go to get beat 2-0 and then coach broke down on M6 on way home. On being told it would take 2 hours to get another one, 50 or so thirsty football fans set off across a field towards the lights of a distant village. Not a clue where it was but it had a pub! Couldn't believe the locals faces as a thirsty rabble descended, as if out of nowhere, on their normally quiet village local. Bad football day but funny all the same.

Colchester away! 7 hours to get there on one of three coaches. Police escort into Colchester from the outskirts, straight to the ground and no chance of a pint, put straight into the ground over an hour before kick off, no exceptions. Freezing day,a refreshment outlet the size of a telephone kiosk which quickly sold the 3 pies they had and was left with luke warm max packs and nothing else. Absolutely tonked 5-1 (only consolation was Cainy's wonder goal from near the half way/side line. Cross or shot? I still don't know).

Back on the coaches, police escort out and what seemed an even longer journey home.

Would be around about... 1978? It was grim. There were many other grim trips but I think in recent memory, the Northwich game was only slightly over shadowed by losing to ten men Acci Stanley by playing for a draw instead of going at them for a win. They thoroughly deserved their win despite being a man down.

One of my favourites was Chester-le-Street in the cup. It was live commentary on BBC Geordie and one of our lads had a radio to which we were listening. The commentary was the most biased imaginable, especially when they went a goal ahead. We pulled it back to 1-1, then 1-2, then 1-3... the commentary was still making out that Chester-le-Street were 'unlucky' so we all went and stood around the car where he was commentating from and started singing. You could hear us over the radio! Strangely, the commentary became much more favourable towards Morecambe! I think we eventually won 1-5... many happy trips up north east... and one bloody cold one!

Without question the worst was Leek away on a bloody horrible night weather wise, let alone the result!

I really thought that it was curtains that night for the manager. But he lived to fight many more and thankfully sucessful games.

No guessing which was the best for me.......

Emley away in the FA Cup a few years ago.

They beat us on penalties, it was an absolutely brilliant game with the worst result. Obviously.

It was famous for Kenny Takano's wonder goal, which made him become the first Japanese player ever to score in the FA Cup.

Nuneaton away: Super Robbie Talbot had us congering out the ground.
Best (defeat) Hull away FAC, 2-3 don't know why, just really enjoyed the day and the game. Jamie Heard had a stormer, Twiss great goal!

Worst
Rushden away.. was it 1-4? Boston fans made it bearable and red marauder won the national.. how poignent.
