Just found out about this. Terrible news.
A fantastic guy, always so enthusiastic about my 'antics' with the fireworks, will be greatly missed.

Sean did some commentary for The Bay on Kendal Towns matches and Kendal have announced they will be holding a minutes silence prior to our pre season friendly next Tuesday evening.

Carlsberg don't do football supporters, but if they did.....
They'd support their team through thick and thin with unflinching devotion.
They'd change the club programme, dragging in into a new era.
They'd have monumental rants.
They'd keep us guessing about "secret weapons". Until we sussed it.
They'd give good, honest commentary.
They'd be called Ockers.
See you Sean old lad, it was a privilige knowing you.

Really sad to hear that Sean finally succumbed after a very long and brave battle. Everyone who knew Sean knows he wore his heart on his sleeve and let you know what he thought. Sober he was a passionate socialist, a strong intellect, thoroughly knowledge football supporter who made friends easily. With a drink in him he could be a real curmudgeon who could be awfully hard work. 15 years ago he stayed at my house in Bedfordshire where we had a great time, then we lost to Stevenage and a few pints later he was calling a local gangster a 'Southern f***ing muppet'. How we got out of there alive I'll never know.

Sean did a great deal to help raise the profile of the club. A programme that won awards, although it was a sub-editors nightmare. He got it to a great place and Quinny has on even further. He got the club setup on Player and did the initial hard work, which Freez et al have taken on. He also made sure we got good coverage on The Bay, which now Glen had taken on. And finally he was a great help to me when we setup the club website. We have a lot to thank him for.

I was really pleased that in the last 10 years (?), he found a real soulmate in Sharon. Even through the cancer when I saw him he'd mellowed and was fighting it with dignity.

He could be hard work at times but for all those there were many more when his warmth and passion for the club, politics and many other topics shone through.

I'll have a pint of Flat Muck in his memory. Goodbye Sean and thoughts with his family and friends.

Minutes silence well observed last night at the Kendal match.

Pity the announcer called him Sean O'Driscoll by complete mistake but apologised straight away and corrected his error.

Thanks again to Kendal Town FC for the minute's silence tribute.

It was good to see a full congregation at St Mary's church this afternoon for Ockers funeral and let's hope he enjoys watching Slyne with Hest Fc from his resting place in future. However as 'Peter 2 scarves' commented afterwards, it was a slightly disappointing turn out of Shrimps fans. RIP Ockers
