League 1 & 2 playoff finals venue

League 1 & 2 playoff finals venue

Postby Mike W. » Fri Jan 21, 2011 2:44 pm

I see the Football League has announced that the playoff finals for Leagues 1 and 2 are to be at Old Trafford, "The first time these finals have been in the North West".

There was a problem for the League of conflicting fixtures at Wembley that have meant these games moving elsewhere.

Its the chumpion league finals fault, they dont allow games played on the pitch the week before, so they have a purfect pitch.......... make you wonder why Wembley was choosen :(

Is this not old news? Thought it was announced months ago?

I think the fact that the play-offs for Division 3 and 4 won't be at Wembers this year is old news. Old Trafford as the official venue is a recent developement, though you wouldn't have needed to be the brain of Britain to guess that they'd be moving the fixtures to the next biggest football stadium in the country.

Was announced in September.

I doubt it. Remind me....what was our home gate Vs Torquay (don't remind me Heysham_mfc, it's a rhetorical question)??? I'd be happy enough if we finished where we are now but continued to play the way we have been since Stanley. But if by some flight of fantasy we did climb the table and we reached the play-off final and played Accrington, they might as well just open the quadrants. It's not as big a draw as Wembley is for the day trippers and part-timers that swelled the numbers that made the trip to the conference play-offs.

I'd imagine Bury would take a few though!!!
